Dean Stokes, a British thrill-seeker and roller coaster enthusiast, has made history by setting a new Guinness World Record after riding 55 roller coasters across the UK and Ireland in just seven days. Initially, Stokes had planned to visit every theme park and ride all their coasters, but midway through his trip, he shifted his focus to attempting a world record.
His journey wasn’t without challenges. Unpredictable weather, including heavy rain and strong winds caused by Storm Flossie, forced the temporary closure of several parks. Despite this, Stokes pushed forward with determination, visiting numerous cities and enduring long travel hours, all while editing daily videos documenting the adventure.
‘Unbelievable’ Journey Started as a Personal Adventure
Stokes said his love for roller coasters began in childhood, and his goal was originally personal enjoyment rather than a record attempt. While he had hoped to ride over 60 coasters, weather disruptions made this impossible. Still, completing 55 rides in just seven days is a feat he hopes inspires others.
Upon receiving his official Guinness World Record certificate, Stokes described the moment as “unbelievable.” He also welcomed future challengers, saying he would be happy if other enthusiasts attempted to beat his record.
His journey highlights not just a personal triumph, but the resilience and passion of theme park fans around the world.
