ISLAMABAD: Endorsing his son Moonis Elahi’s statement, Chief Minister Punjab Pervez Elahi said that former army chief Gen. (Retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa influenced PML-Q to support PTI during no-confidence move against then-prime minister Imran Khan.
He said that Gen. Bajwa did not play any double game with the PTI. Punjab Chief Minister’s statement comes a couple of days after his son and PML-Q leader Moonis Elahi claimed that General (retd) Bajwa asked them to vote for PTI.
Pervez Elahi said that the PDM and PTI made offers to PML-Q before no-trust move, but Gen. (retd) Bajwa advised them to side with PTI.
CM Punjab said: “God changed our path at the last moment when they were heading towards PML-N and sent Gen (retd) Bajwa to show us the way.”
CM Elahi said that Sharifs were not trust worthy as they had cheated him in the past.
He said “I was with the Sharifs for 18 years, they always lied to us. I would often say the Sharifs won’t let me do anything for the province.”
Punjab Chief Minister also stated that his party has always supported all the army chiefs and never gave any offensive statement against any of them.
