Coldplay frontman Chris Martin has addressed the now-viral kiss-cam moment from the band’s recent performance at Gillette Stadium, which has unexpectedly sparked a corporate controversy and led to an internal investigation at a U.S. tech company.
The seemingly lighthearted moment during the Foxborough, Massachusetts concert took a serious turn after viewers identified the man caught on camera as Andy Byron, CEO of data tech firm Astronomer, and the woman as the company’s HR manager. The encounter, which showed the two dodging the kiss-cam spotlight, prompted Martin to joke:
“Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy.”
CEO Placed on Leave as Company Launches Internal Probe
After the video gained traction online and drew scrutiny over the nature of the relationship, Astronomer Inc. issued a public statement confirming that Andy Byron has been placed on leave. In the interim, cofounder Pete DeJoy is serving as acting CEO.
A spokesperson told People magazine:
“The board of directors has launched a formal investigation. We will share updates as appropriate.”
The company also published a statement on LinkedIn, reaffirming its commitment to workplace ethics:
“Our leaders are expected to uphold the standards of conduct and accountability that define Astronomer’s values and culture.”
The woman involved has not been publicly named and has not responded to media inquiries. Byron has also made no public comment on the matter.
Chris Martin Responds to the Fallout: ‘I Hope We Didn’t Do Something Bad’
In a follow-up concert, Chris Martin referenced the viral situation with a mix of surprise and concern, saying to fans:
“Holy s**t. I hope we didn’t do something bad.”
Though the moment was meant to entertain the audience, its fallout has reignited conversations around workplace relationships, public surveillance, and consent—particularly with the increasing risks of viral fame.
Coldplay has not issued an official statement, and the band’s U.S. tour continues as planned. The video continues to circulate widely on social media, amassing millions of views and sparking heated discussion across platforms.
