Brawl Overshadows UFC 322 at Madison Square Garden
UFC 322, held at Madison Square Garden on Saturday, was expected to be a celebration of elite MMA, highlighted by Islam Makhachev’s championship victory over Jack Della Maddalena. While Makhachev made history by becoming a two-division champion after a unanimous decision win, the event was marred by a dramatic incident involving Dillon Danis, former training partner of Conor McGregor.
Viral footage quickly circulated showing Danis engaging in a confrontation with members of Team Khabib, including Magomed Zaynikov, known online as ‘John Pork.’ The melee broke out in the crowd and forced security to intervene, eventually escorting Danis out of the arena. The incident drew widespread attention, overshadowing several high-profile bouts and leaving fans and commentators questioning the UFC’s crowd protocols.
Dana White Issues Lifetime Ban
During the post-fight press conference, UFC President Dana White addressed the incident and took full responsibility for the security lapse. White announced a lifetime ban on Dillon Danis from attending any UFC events. “You will never see Dillon Danis at a UFC fight ever again,” White said.
White explained that Danis had a valid ticket but was moving around the arena and occupying seats not assigned to him. “I could’ve prevented this tonight, and I messed up,” White admitted. He also revealed that while police were prepared to arrest Danis, he chose not to press charges, citing the unpredictable nature of the fight business.
The ban ensures that Danis will have no future access to UFC events, highlighting the organization’s zero-tolerance stance toward disruptive behavior. Meanwhile, the spotlight returned to Makhachev, whose victory solidified his status as a two-division champion and capped a memorable night in MMA history.
