Precision Strikes Wipe Out Terrorist Leadership
Pakistan’s security forces have successfully targeted and eliminated key hideouts of the Gul Bahadur militant group in North and South Waziristan. According to Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, the operation was launched based on intelligence inputs and resulted in the deaths of 60 to 70 terrorists, including top commanders. The Gul Bahadur group is linked to the banned Fitna Al Khwarij outfit, known for conducting attacks across Pakistan.
Tarrar emphasized that the strikes were highly accurate and only targeted militants. He strongly denied any reports of civilian casualties, calling such claims part of a propaganda campaign to support terrorists based in Afghanistan.
Militants Attempted Attacks Amid Ceasefire
During a 48-hour ceasefire, militants of Fitna Al Khwarij, based across the Afghan border, tried to infiltrate and carry out attacks inside Pakistan. Security forces quickly responded, foiling the plots. In retaliation, over 100 militants were reportedly killed.
One major incident involved a suicide bombing in North Waziristan, where a vehicle loaded with explosives killed one soldier and several civilians. Many others were injured in the blast, which was linked directly to the Gul Bahadur group.
Tarrar reiterated that the source of terrorism lies across the border, often under foreign patronage. He called for Afghanistan to take serious steps to bring non-state actors under control. He added that a sustainable solution requires dialogue but warned that Pakistan will not tolerate any threat to its territorial integrity.
