Race Wars Pakistan 2025 Kicks Off at Shakarparian Parade Ground
Islamabad has come alive with the roar of engines as Race Wars Pakistan 2025 officially marks the return of drag racing and motorsports to the capital. The three-day event, held from October 17 to 19, 2025, is taking place at the Shakarparian Parade Ground and promises adrenaline-fueled excitement for motorsport fans across the country.
The festival launched on Friday, October 17, with head-to-head (H2H) races—tandem sprints that showcased speed, control, and rivalry between drivers. On Saturday, October 18, the spotlight shifted to drifting, where skilled drivers performed precision slides and stylish maneuvers to entertain the crowd.
The festival will conclude on Sunday, October 19, with the much-anticipated drag racing finale—a series of high-octane straight-line battles to determine the fastest machines on the track.
Beyond the races, the event includes car exhibitions, vendor stalls, live driver meet-and-greets, and behind-the-scenes car builds, offering fans a deeper look into the motorsport culture.
Memories of 2010 Tragedy Prompt Tight Safety Controls
Despite the excitement, the return of public racing in Islamabad stirs memories of a dark chapter in local motorsport history. In December 2010, a drag race in Bahria Town ended in tragedy when a high-speed car—allegedly a Toyota Supra—lost control and crashed into spectators. Five people died, and many were injured.
The horrific accident led to nationwide criticism, with the Supreme Court of Pakistan stepping in to investigate safety lapses. Public racing events were suspended indefinitely, and strict guidelines were later introduced for any future motorsport gatherings.
Now, after 15 years, organizers have worked closely with authorities to implement rigorous safety protocols, including barrier placements, crowd control systems, and emergency response plans. With motorsport events like Drift Fest and Race Wars Pakistan making a comeback, the pressure remains high to maintain order and protect spectators.
