PSO installs Aircraft refueling
SKARDU/ISLAMABAD: Pakistan State Oil (PSO) launched its brand-new aircraft refueling installation at Skardu International Airport. The airport is in the captivating region of Gilgit-Baltistan.
This move positions PSO as the first Oil Marketing Company in Pakistan to expand its services to this area.

Skardu Airport can accommodate large aircraft and is poised to welcome its inaugural international flight on August 14, 2023. The airport is situated in northern Pakistan and serves as an international gateway,
Skardu plays a crucial role as a trade and transportation hub in the region. It stands as a globally renowned tourist destination, particularly for climbers and trekkers. They come here from around the world to witness the iconic K2. The mountain is the world’s second-highest mountain in the Karakoram range of Gilgit Baltistan.
PSO stands as the sole Oil Marketing Company spanning the entirety of Pakistan. It is operating from the Arabian shores to the remote reaches of Sost.
This accomplishment is unparalleled, as other market participants struggle to manage supply chains in these regions. Despite the challenges, PSO persists out of unwavering dedication to the national interest.
Boasting an impressive 98% market share in jet fuel, PSO maintains an unrivaled leadership position.
The company’s extensive operations encompass 13 major airports across the country. The company aims to facilitate the expansion of both domestic and international airlines to Skardu.
During the unveiling of the refueling facility, Khaqan Murtaza, Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), remarked, “The collaboration between two national flag carriers for the advancement of our country’s aviation infrastructure is indeed a significant achievement. This facility will not only enhance the operational efficiency of the airport but also provide a seamless experience for airlines. We extend our gratitude to PSO for their continuous support in delivering exceptional products and services for the aviation industry.”
Meanwhile, Air Vice Marshal Muhammad Amir Hayat, Chief Executive Officer of PIA, also participated in the event He said, “Regional and international connectivity will be a transformative factor for the economic progress of Gilgit Baltistan. PIA has achieved the unique distinction of operating the first international flight to Skardu.”
