Pakistan’s security forces successfully thwarted an infiltration attempt by a group of terrorists along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in North Waziristan’s Hassan Khel area during the night of April 5-6, 2025. The operation resulted in the deaths of eight terrorists and left four others injured after a fierce exchange of gunfire, according to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Sunday.
The ISPR statement reported that on the night of April 5-6, security forces detected the movement of a terrorist group attempting to infiltrate through the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in the Hassan Khel area of North Waziristan. Pakistani troops engaged the group and successfully thwarted their infiltration attempt. After an intense firefight, eight terrorists were killed, while four others sustained injuries.
The military also reminded the interim Afghan government of its commitment to prevent militants from crossing into Pakistan. “Pakistan has consistently urged the Interim Afghan Government to ensure effective border management on their side,” the statement read. “The Afghan government is expected to fulfill its obligations and prevent Afghan soil from being used by terrorists to carry out attacks against Pakistan.”
In response to the incident, Pakistani forces initiated a sanitization operation in the area to ensure the complete removal of any remaining militants. The military reaffirmed its commitment to securing the nation’s borders and eradicating terrorism.
