Lahore’s authorities have announced a comprehensive traffic and security plan for the much-anticipated Champions Trophy 2025 match between Australia and England, set to take place at Gaddafi Stadium. To ensure the safety and convenience of spectators, over 12,000 police personnel will be deployed for the event.
Traffic Plan for Spectators
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) of Lahore has confirmed that over 1,000 traffic police officers will be stationed at key locations to manage the flow of vehicles and ensure smooth transportation. Strict measures will be in place to prevent illegal parking, with 20 forklifts and four breakdown vehicles on standby to handle any violations.
For spectators attending the match, a detailed parking plan has been devised. Fans coming from Defence will park at the Central Business District (CBD), taking a left turn from Centre Point at Firdous Market. Those traveling via Ferozepur Road are advised to park near Government College Gulberg. Visitors from Defence and Cantt will be directed to park at Liberty Park, accessible via Hussain Chowk or Sherpao Bridge.
The CTO also assured that no roads would be permanently closed during the event. Major routes such as Mall Road, Jail Road, Canal Road, Ferozepur Road, and Main Boulevard Gulberg will remain open for regular traffic. Spectators have been advised to park only in designated areas to avoid any inconvenience.
To further assist fans, live traffic updates will be made available through the Rasta App and Rasta FM 88.6, allowing spectators to stay informed about the traffic situation in real time.
Enhanced Security Measures
Punjab Police have implemented a robust security plan to ensure the safety of players, officials, and spectators. The Inspector General of Police (IG), Dr. Usman Anwar, has directed stringent measures to be taken across key locations, particularly around the stadium.
More than 12,000 police officers will be deployed, including specialized units like the Dolphin Squad, Police Response Unit, and Elite teams. Snipers will be positioned on high-rise buildings surrounding Gaddafi Stadium, ensuring that all potential risks are closely monitored. Additionally, Safe City cameras will keep a vigilant watch over all routes leading to the venue, along with other sensitive areas in the vicinity.
The authorities have assured the public that all necessary steps are being taken to provide a secure environment for the high-profile match. With these extensive security and traffic plans in place, both spectators and players are expected to enjoy a smooth and safe experience at the Champions Trophy clash between Australia and England.
