LAHORE / ISLAMABAD: JUI-F leader Fazl-ur-Rehman is set to meet with former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif today, according to the reports. The two leaders will engage in discussions at Nawaz Sharif’s residence in Jati Umra, Lahore, to formulate a joint political strategy.
The agenda includes exploring a potential seat adjustment formula for their respective parties in the upcoming general elections. Additionally, they will deliberate on the formation of committees for key provinces such as Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
On Monday, Nawaz Sharif presided over a PML-N parliamentary board meeting focused on preparations for the 2024 general elections. Currently, he is conducting candidate interviews for those intending to contest elections in Rawalpindi, Attock, and Chakwal districts.
Nawaz Sharif’s increased activity follows his return from London, signaling a heightened focus on gearing up his party for the upcoming elections. It’s worth noting that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has officially scheduled the general elections for February 8, 2024.
Fawad Chaudhry’s Interim Bail Extended Amid Section 144 Violation Case
Meanwhile, on Monday, the Session Court extended the interim bail of former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry in a case related to the violation of section 144 as reported.
Additional and Sessions Judge Tahir Abbas Supra presided over the session court hearing, where the court granted Fawad Chaudhry’s request for exemption and extended his interim bail until December 12, 2023. The next hearing for the case is scheduled for December 12.
Last week, Fawad Chaudhry was accorded B-class facilities in jail following a court directive. Chief Commissioner Anwarul Haq appeared before the High Court to address concerns about the prison facilities provided to Fawad Chaudhry. During the hearing, the Chief Commissioner presented a report stating that the former federal minister had been granted B-class facilities in jail.
