The Federal Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, has approved the Finance Bill for the fiscal year 2025-26. The bill is set to be presented in the National Assembly later today by Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb.
As part of the new budget, a 6% increase in the salaries of federal government employees and a 7% rise in pensions have been approved.
During a special cabinet meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated that the country’s economic indicators are showing positive trends, reflecting an improving economy. He emphasized that the government is putting forth its best efforts given the current economic circumstances.
The Prime Minister also acknowledged the significant burden borne by the salaried class and expressed optimism that the implementation of Budget 2025-26 would pave the way for economic stability. He instructed all ministers and party members to ensure their participation in the upcoming budget session of the National Assembly.
Meanwhile, Speaker of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq convened a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee to finalize the proceedings for the budget session, including consultations with all parliamentary stakeholders regarding the budget speech, related discussions, and questioning.
