The first fast of Ramadan in Pakistan is expected to be observed on March 2, according to the latest moon sighting prediction by the Meteorological Department.
The department clarified that the Ramadan crescent will likely not be visible on February 28 (29th Sha’ban). The new moon is expected to occur on February 28 at 5:45 PM, but its age at sunset on the 29th of Sha’ban will be just 13 hours and 12 minutes, whereas the crescent must be at least 19 hours old to be visible.
Additionally, the Met Office has predicted partly cloudy to clear skies in various parts of the country on the evening of February 29, further reducing the chances of sighting the crescent.
