Security forces successfully foiled an infiltration attempt along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in Balochistan’s Zhob district, killing five terrorists, the military’s media wing reported on Sunday.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated that a group of militants was detected attempting to infiltrate through the border area of Sambaza, Zhob, during the night of January 18-19. Pakistani troops effectively engaged the militants, preventing their infiltration. “As a result, five Khwarij were sent to hell,” the statement said.
The ISPR also reiterated Pakistan’s ongoing calls for the interim Afghan government to improve border management and prevent the use of Afghan soil for launching terrorist activities against Pakistan. “The interim Afghan government is expected to fulfill its obligations and deny the use of its territory by Khwarij for perpetrating terrorism against Pakistan,” the statement added.
Pakistan’s security forces remain committed to protecting the nation’s borders and combating terrorism, the ISPR concluded.
According to the “CRSS Annual Security Report 2024” from the Centre for Research and Security Studies, 2024 was the deadliest year for both Pakistan’s civil and military security forces in the last decade, with 685 fatalities and 444 terrorist attacks.
