On Sunday, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported that an exchange of fire between security forces and terrorists in the general Mashkai area of Balochistan’s Awaran district resulted in the death of five terrorists.
The military’s media affairs wing stated that an intelligence-based operation was carried out on the nights of December 30 and December 31, targeting the reported presence of terrorists. The operation led to the elimination of the terrorists, the discovery of their hideout, and the recovery of a significant cache of arms, ammunition, and explosives. A sanitization operation is underway to eliminate any remaining terrorists in the area.
The ISPR emphasized the commitment of Pakistan’s security forces to prevent any attempts at sabotaging the peace, stability, and progress of Balochistan, stating, “The security forces of Pakistan, in step with the nation, remain determined to thwart attempts of sabotaging peace, stability, and progress of Balochistan.”
The region has experienced a surge in terrorist activities in recent months, particularly after the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan, a banned militant organization, terminated its ceasefire with the government last year. In a separate operation on Saturday, the ISPR announced the killing of a terrorist commander and four other militants during an operation in the Mir Ali area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s North Waziristan district.
