Beloved Cat
Pakistani actor Yashma Gill is mourning the heartbreaking loss of her beloved cat, Jojo, who passed away recently. In a deeply emotional Instagram Story shared on Sunday, the Haq Mehar star opened up about the profound grief she is experiencing, calling Jojo “a piece of her heart.”
“Yesterday, I lost a piece of my heart,” Gill wrote in her heartfelt note. “Jojo wasn’t just a cat. He was my baby, my family, my everything.” She described how Jojo had been a constant presence through her highs and lows, offering unwavering comfort and companionship. “He was there for me through times of joy and heartbreak, with his quiet love and knowing eyes. He depended on me, trusted me, loved me unconditionally, and I did the same. He made my house a home, my heart a little fuller, my life a little brighter. Losing him feels like losing a child and a part of my soul.”
To honour Jojo’s memory, Gill also posted a moving video carousel capturing her pet’s sweet moments — clips of him lounging, playing, and simply being her quiet companion. Alongside the footage, she wrote, “Yesterday, I had to say goodbye to my child, my Jojo. My heart is shattered, and the silence without you is unbearable.”
In another emotional passage, she added, “You were more than just a cat. You were my companion, my comfort, my little piece of joy, and literally the beat to my heart. I’ll miss your gentle purrs, your warm presence, those eyes and the way you always knew when I needed you most. It feels impossible to let go, but I know you’re at peace now. I’ll carry your love with me forever. Rest well, my precious Jojo. You’ll never be forgotten.”
Gill’s tribute resonated deeply with pet lovers, many of whom took to social media to offer their condolences. “My cat died last week. I know how she feels,” one user wrote, echoing the collective heartbreak of losing a furry companion. Another added, “Your baby is in kitty heaven now, watching over you!”
Fans also flooded her comments with love and support. “Hey Yashma, I’m so sorry to hear about your cat. Losing a pet is never easy… May cherished memories of Jojo bring a smile to your face and warmth to your heart.”
Gill’s last post featuring Jojo was from Valentine’s Day in February. In it, she had celebrated singlehood by spending the day with her cats. One clip showed Jojo’s hilariously unimpressed expression as she held him up in her arms. Captioning it, she wrote, “This is a perfect depiction of what Jojo and all my cats feel for me. Happy Valentine’s Day to my constants and only valentines.”
The outpouring of sympathy online shows just how many people understand the pain of losing a pet. For Gill, Jojo wasn’t just an animal — he was family.
