ISLAMABAD: The five-member larger bench of the Islamabad High Court has directed the lawyer of PTI chairman Imran Khan to re-submit reply within seven days, till Sept 8, in the contempt of court case.
Athar Minallah said that the reply submitted by Imran Khan in the court was not according to his (IK) political stature. He said that he was expecting a better reply from the petitioner but the reply was totally against his expectations.

IHC chief justice said that the court would not allow the misuse of the freedom of expression. He also stated that the court would ensure a free and fair trial of the contempt of court case against PTI chairman Imran Khan.
A five-member bench comprising IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah, Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani, Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb, Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri, and Justice Babar Sattar is hearing the case on Wednesday.
IHC chief justice said that a character assassination social media campaign was launched against him in which he was shown with a judge of the Supreme Court as a member of a political party. He further said that on social media he was declared the owner of an apartment in a foreign country.
Athar Minallah stated this in response to the PTI chairman’s answer about the midnight opening of courts. IHC chief judge said that today is the best opportunity to explain why the court was opened at midnight.
Chief Justice also mentioned the incidents of kidnapping of journalist Matiullah Khan, torture of another journalist Assad Toor and firing on Absar Alam, former chairman of PEMRA. All these incidents took place in Islamabad during the regime of PTI.
