Imamul Haq has replaced Fakhar Zaman in Pakistan’s squad for the Champions Trophy following Zaman’s injury during the opening match against New Zealand. The International Cricket Council (ICC) confirmed the change on Tuesday.
Zaman was ruled out of the highly anticipated clash against India, scheduled for Sunday. The injury occurred while he was fielding during the opening over against New Zealand in Karachi, and as a result, he will not participate in the remainder of the tournament. Pakistan, chasing 321 runs, was bowled out for 260 in their opening match.
The ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 Event Technical Committee approved the inclusion of Imam-ul-Haq as Zaman’s replacement. Imam, 29, has played 72 One Day Internationals (ODIs) and will join the squad after Zaman’s oblique injury sidelined him.
The Event Technical Committee, which is responsible for approving player replacements, includes Wasim Khan (ICC General Manager – Cricket), Sarah Edgar (ICC Senior Manager – Events), Usman Wahla (PCB Director – International Cricket Operations), and Shaun Pollock (Independent Representative).
