LAHORE: PTI chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan todaay claimed that ex-army chief Gen. (retd) Qamar Bajwa’s “setup was still active in the establishment”.
Khan stated this on Sunday while talking to journalists in Lahore. PTI chief said: “In Pakistan, the establishment is the name of one person.”
Imran Khan once again stated that former army chief was not interested in accountability of corrupt leaders as a result of which he cordial relations with Bajwa turned sour.
PTI chairman further claimed that Bajwa was expressing solidarity with him after deceiving him.
Meanwhile, Imran Khan also asserted that Gen. Bajwa hired the services of Husain Haqqani for lobbying in the US. Haqqani has served as the Pakistan’s Ambassador to USA during PPP’s regime.
Khan said Haqqani has been blamed of seeking US action against army through the memo.
Imran Khan said Haqqani asked the US authorities after the US raid in Abbottabad in 2011 on Osama Bin Laden’s compound to punish Pakistan army.
Haqqani also issued visas to Americans without due process, bypassing relevant authorities, Khan added.
PTI chairman Imran Khan is targeting Gen. (Retd) Bajwa and military establishment again and again perhaps to put pressure on them to influence the government to announce early general elections.
