ISLAMABAD: Anti-Terrorism Court in Islamabad adjourned the hearing of terrorism case against Imran Khan till Sept 20 after extending pre-arrest bail of PTI chairman.
Former prime minister Imran Khan appeared in the ATC on Monday at 11am, seeking extension in his pre-arrest bail which is expiring today.
The ATC Judge Raja Jawad Abbas extended bail of PTI chairman Imran Khan till Sept 20 and adjourned hearing of the case.
An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Islamabad today resumed hearing on a pre-arrest bail plea filed by PTI Chairman Imran Khan. At morning, Imran Khan did not appear in the court, but judge asked Babar Awan to produce accused Imran Khan in the court.
Following the adjournment of the hearing for a short while, the PTI chair appeared before the court amid strict security.
Khan was booked in a case under sections of the Anti-Terrorism Act (ACT) for making threatening remarks against an additional sessions judge and senior officials of the Islamabad Police in his speech at a rally.
The party had moved the Islamabad High Court (IHC) to get transit bail till August 25 for Imran Khan, however, the the court directed the former premier to approach an ATC as it was a terror case.
The FIR registered against Khan states that he threatened Additional Sessions Judge Zeba Chaudhry and police officers at a rally in F-9 Park to “terrorise” police officials and the judiciary.
The main aim was to prevent the police officers and judiciary from carrying out their legal obligations, states the FIR. The FIR was registered on the complaint of Magistrate Ali Javed in Islamabad’s Margalla Police Station under Section 7 of ATA.
