The sisters of former prime minister Imran Khan have strongly criticised the PTI leadership. They accused party leaders of remaining silent over his legal battles and health matters.
Speaking outside the Islamabad High Court, Aleema Khan, Uzma Khan, and Noureen Khanum demanded immediate legal action. Moreover, they questioned the absence of senior party lawyers from court proceedings.
Aleema Khan asked why key legal figures were not actively pursuing cases. She stressed that the party must explain its inaction. Furthermore, she said the leadership appeared missing from both the political and legal arena.
Concerns Over Legal Strategy and Court Proceedings
Imran Khan has remained in jail since August 2023. He was convicted in multiple cases after his removal from office in 2022. However, he maintains that the cases are politically motivated.
His sisters visited the Islamabad High Court to inquire about case progress. They expressed frustration over delays and lack of updates.
Aleema stated that Imran repeatedly directed party lawyers to file petitions. Yet, she claimed that neither the party chairman nor legal representatives ensured proper case registration.
Additionally, she criticised the party chairman’s performance. She argued that leadership failed to secure timely hearings in the Supreme Court and high courts.
Uzma Khan also voiced concern. She said the family often remains unaware of developments in ongoing cases. Consequently, she described the party’s silence as alarming.
Health Issues Add to Family’s Frustration
Imran Khan’s health has also become a contentious issue. Recently, he received medical treatment at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences in Islamabad.
Doctors administered a second anti-VEGF intravitreal injection for his diagnosed eye condition. However, the family raised concerns about transparency.
Aleema alleged that government doctors faced pressure. Therefore, she demanded that the family’s own doctors remain present during treatment.
She further insisted that no major health decision should occur without family consultation. According to her, better communication could have prevented misunderstandings.
Questions Over Political Contacts
Aleema criticised party leaders for maintaining contact with Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi. She claimed the leadership did not share details of such interactions with the family.
Moreover, she questioned why the party failed to respond publicly to remarks made by the interior minister. She argued that leadership should defend both the party founder and his family.
Aleema also alleged that internal divisions exist within the party. She stated that the family remains aware of individuals they consider disloyal.
Call for Immediate Action
The sisters emphasised that Imran Khan remains central to national politics and PTI’s identity. Therefore, they urged the leadership to act decisively.
Aleema declared that the family would continue speaking out regardless of political pressure. Furthermore, she demanded clarity from party leaders about their current stance.
In conclusion, the sisters called for transparent legal action and improved communication. They urged the PTI leadership to break its silence and actively pursue their brother’s release.
