ISLAMABAD: An Additional District and Sessions Judge has extended the interim bail of former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, in the Toshakhana fake receipts case until December 7.
The case was heard by Judge Muhammad Afzal Majoka, who presided over six pre-arrest bail applications from Imran Khan and one from Bushra Bibi.
The court exempted Bushra Bibi from appearing in today’s proceedings, while Imran Khan was not presented via video link despite the court’s earlier directive.
During the hearing, the investigation officer sought additional time to verify the Toshakhana receipts.
Imran Khan, founder of the PTI, and Bushra Bibi are accused of producing counterfeit receipts related to the sale of state gifts from Toshakhana. They approached the court seeking pre-arrest bail amidst allegations that Khan is also implicated in cases involving protests, vandalism, and other charges.
Toshakhana Fake Receipts Case
The couple, along with Shahzad Akbar, Zulfi Bukhari, and Farah Gogi, has been accused in a fraud case registered at Islamabad’s Kohsar Police Station. The FIR alleges that the accused created fake receipts and forged signatures to facilitate the sale of Toshakhana gifts.
The complainant, a local watch dealer, stated in the FIR that counterfeit receipts were produced using his shop’s forged letterhead, tarnishing his business’s reputation.
The broader controversy stems from accusations that Imran Khan failed to disclose details of gifts retained from Toshakhana during his tenure as Prime Minister. Lawmakers from the ruling coalition filed the case last year.
