ISLAMABAD: Flight operations at Islamabad International Airport will face multiple temporary suspensions in August as part of the preparations for Pakistan’s 77th Independence Day celebrations, authorities confirmed on Thursday.
The Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA) issued a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) announcing the suspension of both arrivals and departures on selected dates to facilitate rehearsals for the Independence Day parade, which is traditionally held in the federal capital with full ceremonial display.
Scheduled Suspensions for Parade Rehearsals
As per the NOTAM, flight operations will be completely halted during specific time slots on the following days:
- August 6 to 9 and August 11 to 14
- Daily suspension from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM
- Evening suspension from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM on August 11, 12, and 13
Airlines have been instructed not to schedule any flights during these time frames. The affected durations are aimed at ensuring smooth and secure rehearsals in preparation for the national event.
Passengers Urged to Confirm Flight Schedules
Authorities have advised all travellers flying in or out of Islamabad during the affected days to double-check their flight timings in advance. Airlines are expected to coordinate with passengers and make necessary adjustments to itineraries.
“The temporary suspensions are necessary to facilitate full-scale security arrangements and logistical rehearsals for Independence Day,” said a spokesperson for the airport.
Travellers are encouraged to remain in contact with their respective airlines to stay updated on any schedule modifications or delays.
