The 5th Islamabad Marathon witnessed an incredible showcase of athleticism and sportsmanship, with Pakistan Army’s Israr Khattak clinching the title in the full marathon category.
The event brought together over 3,000 participants, including international athletes, competing in various categories and attracting a vibrant crowd of enthusiastic spectators.
In the half marathon, Sohail Amir emerged as the champion, while Atiq ur Rehman secured victory in the 5-kilometer race. The 10-kilometer race saw a remarkable performance by Mohammad Ikram, who finished first in his category.
On the women’s side, an athlete from Norway claimed the top position in the full marathon, earning praise for her outstanding performance.
Set against the stunning backdrop of Islamabad’s Margalla Hills, the marathon offered four competitive categories, each highlighting the talents of local and international athletes.
Participants hailed from diverse backgrounds, with many expressing their excitement and gratitude for the well-organized event. The marathon not only served as a platform for showcasing physical endurance but also promoted camaraderie and healthy competition.
International participants were full of praise for Islamabad’s scenic beauty and the smooth execution of the event. A runner from the UK described her experience as “amazing,” noting the favorable weather and the electrifying atmosphere.
Similarly, an athlete from Norway applauded the initiative as a positive step towards promoting fitness and unity among people from different walks of life.
The event also attracted notable figures, including diplomats. The UAE Ambassador, Ibrahim Salim Al-Zaabi, participated and commended the marathon as a testament to Islamabad’s vibrant culture and its potential to host world-class events.
For many participants, the marathon was more than just a race—it was an opportunity to inspire others and aim for international representation.
Winners expressed their joy and determination to take their achievements to the global stage, hoping for more opportunities to represent Pakistan in future events.
