Train Services Restored Following Swift Clearance Operation
SIBI, BALOCHISTAN – A potential tragedy was narrowly averted on Thursday when an explosion occurred near the railway track in Sibi, just moments before the arrival of the Jaffar Express. The passenger train, which was en route from Peshawar to Quetta, escaped damage and continued its journey after officials quickly responded to the incident.
According to railway authorities, the blast took place approximately two to two-and-a-half feet from the main railway line, only a short distance from the Sibi Railway Station. The timing of the explosion, occurring just as the train was approaching, raised alarm but fortunately did not result in any injuries or physical damage.
Security personnel and railway staff promptly reached the site, securing the area and beginning an investigation into the cause of the explosion. The blast temporarily disrupted train traffic in the area, but after a swift clearance operation, services resumed.
No Casualties; Investigation Ongoing into Cause
The Sibi Station Master confirmed that there were no casualties and that the rail track had not sustained damage. As a precaution, train services were briefly halted, and the Jaffar Express was held at the station during the inspection.
After the track was declared safe, the train from Peshawar to Quetta was allowed to proceed. The return service from Quetta to Peshawar, which had also been delayed, is now set to resume according to schedule.
Authorities have launched a formal investigation to determine whether the explosion was caused by sabotage, terrorism, or an accidental detonation. The close proximity of the blast to the active railway line has heightened concerns over passenger safety and the security of critical transport infrastructure in Balochistan.
Despite the alarming nature of the incident, officials reassured passengers that both up and down train services are now operating normally and that enhanced security measures are being reviewed.
