Islamabad: In a transformative step towards modernizing Pakistan’s agricultural landscape, Karandaaz Pakistan, a leading impact investment platform focused on financial and social inclusion, has joined hands with GrowTech, an AgriTech pioneer, to improve digital and financial access for smallholder farmers across Punjab.
The partnership aims to scale the adoption of smart agriculture practices and digital financial solutions in underserved farming communities, enabling farmers to enhance productivity, increase profitability, and build resilience in a competitive market environment.
GrowTech will utilize its digital platform to provide farmers with real-time advisory services, access to agri-input suppliers, and market linkages in newly targeted regions. The initiative is designed to bridge the digital divide in rural areas and drive sustainable growth in agriculture.
“This partnership with GrowTech reinforces our commitment to leveraging technology and finance to strengthen Pakistan’s agriculture sector,” said Waqas ul Hasan, CEO of Karandaaz Pakistan. “We aim to create a more inclusive, productive, and climate-resilient agri-economy by meeting farmers where they are—digitally and physically.”
To enhance on-ground impact, the initiative will establish Farmer Facilitation Centres in two additional districts of Punjab. These centres will act as community hubs, offering digital training, in-person advisory services, and capacity-building programs. Digital marketing and e-commerce workshops will also engage local influencers and community leaders to encourage widespread adoption.
Recognizing logistics as a vital link in the agricultural value chain, the partnership will collaborate with local logistics providers to optimize supply chains, ensuring timely and efficient delivery of agri-inputs and produce, ultimately expanding farmers’ market access.
A key innovation in this collaboration is the pilot use of electronic warehouse receipts to provide farmers with collateral-backed financing. This will allow them to store their produce and ease liquidity constraints. Additionally, the platform will integrate livestock and health advisory services, with a special focus on empowering female farmers.
“Through this partnership, GrowTech is driving a digital transformation in agriculture—empowering smallholders, improving rural market connectivity, and building Pakistan’s leading platform for inclusive and tech-driven farming,” said Faisal Bilal, CEO of GrowTech.
Sharjeel Murtaza, Chief Digital Officer at Karandaaz, added, “Agriculture is the backbone of Pakistan’s economy, yet remains one of its most financially underserved sectors. Karandaaz is committed to working with AgriTech firms, financial institutions, and fintechs to deliver impactful, last-mile solutions tailored to the unique needs of smallholder farmers.”
The collaboration is expected to benefit tens of thousands of farmers and serve as a scalable model for future AgriTech and financial inclusion initiatives across Pakistan.
