A group of Khalistani protesters attempted to disrupt the visit of India’s External Affairs Minister (EAM) S. Jaishankar in London, with tensions escalating outside Chatham House. The protest turned into a security breach as Jaishankar was leaving the venue after a discussion.
As the minister’s convoy was departing, a protester rushed towards the car and tore the Indian national flag in front of police officers. A video of the incident, which quickly spread online, shows the man approaching the vehicle aggressively, while law enforcement initially appeared hesitant before intervening. The individual was later taken into custody, along with others involved in the protest.
Another video captured Khalistani supporters outside Chatham House, waving flags and chanting slogans.
The incident occurred during Jaishankar’s official visit to the UK from March 4 to 9. During his visit, Jaishankar held discussions at Chevening House with UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy, focusing on bilateral relations, trade negotiations, strategic coordination, and people-to-people exchanges.
