Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has unveiled a free laptop scheme for students across the province and called on the Punjab government to adopt KP’s welfare model for public service delivery.
Speaking to a gathering, Gandapur emphasized the KP government’s achievements, particularly the Health Card Plus program, which has provided health insurance to the entire population. He also highlighted the new life insurance benefits being extended to residents. “We have covered our entire population with health insurance and are now offering life insurance. I urge Punjab to provide similar facilities to its people,” he said.
Economic Performance
Gandapur proudly pointed out that despite financial challenges, his government had increased provincial revenue by 55% and maintained a budget surplus of Rs176 billion. “Punjab should strive to boost its income from 12% to 55%. We are the only province that met the IMF target successfully,” he claimed. He further criticized Punjab’s economic performance, accusing the province of failing to meet its Rs300 billion surplus target and instead running up a deficit of Rs146 billion.
Social Welfare Programs
In addition to the laptop distribution initiative, Gandapur revealed that the KP government is offering Rs200,000 each to assist the marriages of 4,000 deserving girls.
“Punjab’s performance is not even 1% of what we’ve achieved. I challenge Punjab’s leadership to a debate on this issue,” he concluded, issuing a public challenge to Punjab’s leadership to engage in a discussion about the two provinces’ economic and social welfare performances.
