ISLAMABAD: On Monday, the Session Court extended the interim bail of former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry in a case related to the violation of section 144 as reported.
Additional and Sessions Judge Tahir Abbas Supra presided over the session court hearing, where the court granted Fawad Chaudhry’s request for exemption and extended his interim bail until December 12, 2023. The next hearing for the case is scheduled for December 12.
Last week, Fawad Chaudhry was accorded B-class facilities in jail following a court directive. Chief Commissioner Anwarul Haq appeared before the High Court to address concerns about the prison facilities provided to Fawad Chaudhry. During the hearing, the Chief Commissioner presented a report stating that the former federal minister had been granted B-class facilities in jail.
Additionally, he was allowed to meet with family and legal representatives as per the court’s directives.
The First Information Report (FIR)
The case against Fawad Chaudhry, outlined in a First Information Report (FIR), stems from his arrest on August 22, 2022. The charges include sections 109 (punishment for abetment), 186 (obstructing public servant), 188 (disobedience to order), 341 (punishment for wrongful restraint), and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) of the Pakistan Penal Code.
The complainant, Zaheer Ahmed, alleged in the FIR that he had given Rs50 million to Fawad Chaudhry. When he sought the return of the amount, Fawad allegedly offered him two government jobs, and upon refusal, threatened him along with his two armed guards.
