LAHORE/ISLAMABAD: Many PTI MNAs are betraying Imran Khan and urging the Speaker of National Assembly Raja Pervez Ashraf not to accept their resignations.
NA Speaker disclosed this while talking to media persons in Lahore on Sunday.
PTI MNAs are approaching NA Speaker at a time when chairman of their party Imran Khan has vowed to dissolve Punjab, KP assemblies within December and resign en mass from the National Assembly.
Earlier, Punjab Chief Minister Pervez Elahi was not showing interest in dissolving assembly and now PTI MNAs are contacting NA speaker for rejection of their resignations submitted by their party.
The PTI MNAs tendered en mass their resignations at the time of no-trust move against Khan was approved.
Later on, many lawmakers of the party approached the Speaker of National Assembly and urged him not to approve their resignations.
The PTI MNAs said that the party either forced them to resign or submitted resignations witout their consent in April.
The PTI has claimed resignations were accepted by former deputy speaker Qasim Suri in absence of the speaker after Asad Qaiser’s resignation.
When Raja Pervez Ashraf was elected as NA Speaker, he decided to verify the resignations by interviewing lawmakers individually. Thus, NA Speaker approved only 11 resignations.
NA Speaker told media that such situation requires a lengthy thought process and he made it clear that he will not approve PTI MNAs resignations until he is satisfied.
NA speaker hoped that the PTI MNAs would return to the Parliament and represent themselves, their voters and complete their five-year term.
