Renowned karate master and pioneer of martial arts in Pakistan, Ashraf Tai, was admitted to a private hospital on Monday after experiencing breathing difficulties.
According to a spokesperson from the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD), Tai was initially treated in the emergency ward before being shifted to the Coronary Care Unit (CCU).
The spokesperson confirmed that his condition is currently showing signs of improvement. Ashraf Tai’s wife has appealed to the government for continued support during this challenging time.
Earlier in March, the Sindh government extended financial assistance of Rs 2 million to Tai in recognition of his contributions to sports. The aid was provided under the direction of Sindh Sports Minister Sardar Muhammad Baksh Mahar and Sports Secretary Abdul Aleem Lashari.
Director Sports Asad Ishaq had visited Tai’s residence, checked on his health, and personally delivered the financial aid on behalf of the provincial government.
Tai, who has been battling heart disease for some time, had previously requested help from the government due to ongoing medical expenses.
Minister Mahar emphasized that Ashraf Tai is a national icon and assured that the Sindh government remains committed to supporting him with all necessary resources during his time of need.
