Pakistani actor and entrepreneur Mawra Hocane is making waves once again—not for a drama or film, but for an empowering message about financial independence for women. In a heartfelt Instagram video, the Sanam Teri Kasam star reflected on the values instilled in her from a young age, particularly the importance of earning one’s own income.
“I was taught at a very young age that for girls, financial independence is very important,” Mawra shared. “You don’t really understand that as a child, but my mother made sure Urwa and I were busy doing theatre when we were still in school. That laid the foundation of a strong work ethic in both of us.”
“Hustle Is Important”: Making Sacrifices and Building Confidence
Speaking candidly about the sacrifices she’s made in her career, Mawra said, “You can lose a little less sleep and it’s okay. Hustle is important. I think this mindset comes from our parents. They made us understand early on that working hard is a good thing.”
Now a newlywed—having married co-star Ameer Gilani in February—Mawra is using her platform to inspire young women to prioritize their own success and growth. “To all the girls watching, I would say there is nothing better than financial independence,” she emphasized.
She also highlighted the importance of self-reliance, even when one has a supportive family. “No matter how rich your family is, how good your in-laws or your husband are, the money you earn with your own hard work gives you a different kind of confidence.”
