LAHORE/ ISLAMABAD: On Thursday, a significant theft occurred at the Lahore residence of Pakistani film actor Meera, also known as Irtiza Rabab, where a valuable piece of jewelry and a wristwatch were stolen.
The renowned movie star promptly reported the incident to local law enforcement, expressing suspicion that one of her domestic helpers was involved in the theft. An official First Information Report (FIR) was lodged at the Defence (A) Police Station on behalf of Meera.
According to the FIR, Meera discovered the theft in the early hours of Thursday upon returning home from a late-night shopping excursion around 12:30 am. In her complaint, the actor revealed that upon inspecting her “trunk,” she noticed the absence of her jewelry, including two diamond sets, and a wristwatch.
Meera identified one of her domestic help, Qasim, as a potential suspect since he was not present at her home, and attempts to contact him were unsuccessful as his phone was either switched off or unreachable.
Expressing strong suspicion, Meera estimated the total value of the stolen items, with the jewelry sets valued at Rs8 million and the watch at Rs2 million. The film actor urged the police to apprehend the accused suspect, Qasim, and recover the stolen valuables.
In response, the police initiated raids to locate and apprehend the nominated suspect. Meera, born in Lahore, has been an integral part of the showbiz industry since her teenage years. Initially working as a model, she made her film debut in the 1990s with the successful film “Inteha.” Besides her contributions to the Pakistani film industry, Meera has also worked in Bollywood, featuring in films like “Zeher” and “1920 London.” Notable Pakistani films in which she has appeared include “Mushkil” and “Baaji.”
