Nepal and Oman have officially booked their spots in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, leaving just one qualification spot up for grabs.
Nepal to make third appearance, Oman their fourth
The qualification marks Nepal’s third time at the global tournament, while Oman will be making their fourth appearance. The two teams progressed through the Asia regional qualifiers.
From the Africa region, Zimbabwe and Namibia had already secured qualification. In Europe, Italy made history by qualifying for their first-ever T20 World Cup, while the Netherlands also advanced. Canada, meanwhile, claimed their spot from the Americas region after defeating the Bahamas by 57 runs in a crucial match.
Line-up for 2026 T20 World Cup taking shape
According to the International Cricket Council (ICC), a total of 20 teams will compete in the 2026 edition of the tournament. The co-hosts India and Sri Lanka will be joined by teams that reached the Super Eight stage of the 2024 T20 World Cup: Australia, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, England, South Africa, West Indies, the United States, and New Zealand.
Additionally, Pakistan, New Zealand, and Ireland have earned automatic qualification based on their T20I rankings.
Final qualification spot still open
With 19 out of 20 teams now confirmed, only one spot remains unclaimed for the 2026 mega-event. Further details on the final qualification path are expected to be announced by the ICC soon.
