RAWALPINDI: Nine Khwarij militants were killed during intelligence-based operations (IBOs) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported on Saturday.
According to the ISPR, the operations took place on the night of March 14-15, 2025. “Nine Khwarij were killed in two separate engagements in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,” the military’s media wing stated.
The first operation was launched in Mohmand District following intelligence reports of Khwarij militants’ presence. During the operation, security forces engaged the militants’ position, resulting in the deaths of seven Khwarij.
However, during an intense firefight, two brave soldiers—37-year-old Havildar Muhammad Zahid from Malakand and 26-year-old Sepoy Aftab Ali Shah from Chitral—embraced martyrdom.
In a second engagement in the general area of Maddi, Dera Ismail Khan District, security forces exchanged fire with Khwarij militants, killing two more. Weapons and ammunition were recovered from the militants, who had been involved in various terrorist activities.
Sanitization operations are ongoing in the area to eliminate any remaining Khwarij, as Pakistan’s security forces remain committed to eradicating terrorism from the country, the ISPR added.
Earlier, on February 28, 2025, a similar IBO was conducted in North Waziristan, where six Khwarij were killed. The ISPR reported that security forces successfully engaged the militants’ position in Ghulam Khan Kalay, North Waziristan, leading to their deaths. Weapons and ammunition were recovered from the slain militants, who had been actively involved in attacks on security forces and the killing of innocent civilians.
