On Friday, the ambassador of Pakistan to Iran arrived in Tehran, and concurrently, the Iranian ambassador landed in Islamabad, indicating the complete restoration of diplomatic ties between the two neighboring nations. This development follows a brief disruption in relations after Iran conducted strikes on alleged terrorist targets within Pakistani territory.
Upon his return to Tehran, Ambassador Muddasar Tipu underscored the significance of initiating a fresh chapter in bilateral relations, stating, “It’s time to embark on a new phase in our ties.” This signifies a renewed commitment to fortifying the partnership between the two countries.
Simultaneously, Iranian envoy Reza Amiri Moghadam, upon arriving in Islamabad, expressed approval of the swift and effective diplomatic measures taken by both nations to address recent tensions. Speaking to the Iranian news agency Irna, Moghadam remarked, “The robust and prompt diplomacy between our countries has been commendable in managing the recent incidents.” He emphasized the mutual stance of Iran and Pakistan that there is no place for terrorists in their relationship.
Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian is set to visit Islamabad on Sunday at the invitation of his Pakistani counterpart Jalil Abbas Jilani. Rahim Hayat Qureshi, the Additional Secretary (West Asia) of the Foreign Office, welcomed Moghadam back to Islamabad, stating, “We here in Pakistan are delighted by your arrival back at your second home. Our fraternal relations will, Insha Allah, continue to strengthen.“
