Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif convened for a significant bilateral meeting on Sunday evening in Makkah, following an Iftar dinner.
They discussed mutual relations and emphasized their shared commitment to enhancing bilateral ties. High-level officials from both nations attended the gathering, which focused on strengthening relations in areas such as trade, investment, and regional cooperation.
The bilateral discussions included both delegation-level talks and a one-on-one meeting between PM Sharif and the Saudi Crown Prince. They explored various aspects of Pak-Saudi relations, including the promotion of bilateral investment and trade. Additionally, the leaders exchanged views on regional and international affairs.
Both leaders acknowledged the positive trajectory of the enduring fraternal relations between their countries. PM Sharif conveyed his prayers and well wishes for the health of King Salman bin Abdulaziz, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, and expressed gratitude for the warm reception extended to him and his delegation by the Saudi authorities.
Key figures present at the meeting included Prince Saud bin Mishaal bin Abdulaziz, the deputy governor of the Makkah region, and Prince Turki bin Muhammad, a distinguished member of the Saudi Council of Ministers. Representing Pakistan alongside Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif were Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and federal cabinet ministers.
Amid diplomatic deliberations, Prime Minister Sharif and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman participated in religious activities, including offering Maghreb prayers and performing Umrah together. Shehbaz later prayed Isha at Masjid-e-Haram and joined the concluding prayer of the holy Quran.
The bilateral meeting, alongside religious observances, underscores the ongoing commitment of both nations to bolster their longstanding friendship and cooperation across various domains. This sets a positive tone for future collaboration and mutual prosperity.
Earlier, Mohammad bin Salman hosted an Iftar dinner for Prime Minister Sharif and his cabinet members, where they discussed matters related to trade and investment. PM Shehbaz and his delegation had arrived in Saudi Arabia on Saturday via a commercial flight, with prominent members including Ishaq Dar, Khawaja Asif, Muhammad Aurangzeb, Abdul Aleem Khan, Atta Tarar, Ahad Cheema, and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
