ISLAMABAD: For the first time, the name “Pakistan” appeared on the Indian cricket team’s jersey for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, igniting a wave of controversy among Indian fans.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) recently revealed the team’s new jersey for the tournament, prominently displaying the host nation’s name, “Pakistan,” alongside the official tournament logo. This decision has sparked significant backlash, with many Indian fans voicing their displeasure on social media platforms.
Photos from the Indian cricket team’s official photoshoot have gone viral, featuring captain Rohit Sharma alongside key players like Ravindra Jadeja, Hardik Pandya, and Arshdeep Singh in the new uniform.
However, the inclusion of “Pakistan” on the jersey has become the focal point of discussion.
While some fans are upset, the move aligns with ICC regulations, which require the host country’s name to be incorporated into the tournament branding—a standard practice for international cricket events.
