Foreign Office decries violation of international law, urges restraint and dialogue
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Sunday strongly condemned the recent US air strikes targeting Iran’s nuclear sites, describing them as a dangerous continuation of Israeli aggression and a clear breach of international law.
In a formal statement, Foreign Office spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan said the attacks on Iran’s Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan nuclear facilities represent a serious escalation in an already volatile region.
“Pakistan strongly condemns the US strikes on the nuclear installations of the Islamic Republic of Iran,” Khan stated. “These actions, carried out in the shadow of Israeli hostilities, violate all norms and principles of international law.”
He reaffirmed Iran’s right to self-defense under the UN Charter, warning that the growing conflict threatens to spiral into a broader regional crisis with far-reaching global consequences.
“There is deep concern over the potential for further escalation, which could endanger peace and security across the region and beyond,” he added.
Khan called for an immediate cessation of hostilities, emphasizing the protection of civilians and infrastructure as a top priority. He urged all parties to act with restraint and uphold their international humanitarian obligations.
“Any further aggression could lead to severe destabilization of the region,” he warned.
The spokesperson underscored that dialogue and diplomacy remain the only viable path forward.
“A peaceful resolution, grounded in the principles of the United Nations Charter, is essential to resolving the region’s complex challenges,” he concluded.
The statement follows global concern over the US-Israeli military action against Iran, which has raised fears of a wider war in the Middle East.
