Islamabad Rebukes New Delhi’s Claims at United Nations
Pakistan exercised its right of reply at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), forcefully rejecting terrorism allegations made by Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.
Second Secretary Muhammad Rashid, representing Pakistan, described India as “a serial perpetrator of terrorism” and “a regional bully.” He asserted that Pakistan has lost over 90,000 lives in its fight against terrorism and remains a key contributor to global counter-terrorism efforts.
Rashid accused Indian intelligence agencies of running covert operations aimed at destabilising neighbouring countries. He said credible reports have linked Indian operatives to sabotage activities and targeted killings across the region.
‘Deliberate Provocation’: Pakistan Condemns India’s Rhetoric
The diplomatic clash followed recent tensions after a four-day conflict in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, where India blamed Pakistan for a terror attack — a charge Islamabad strongly denies.
Rashid condemned India’s mocking language and distortion of Pakistan’s name, calling it undignified and a deliberate attempt to insult a sovereign nation. “This is not a local political rally,” he said, warning that such rhetoric only damages India’s global credibility.
He added that India’s use of slurs instead of substantive arguments showed frustration and lacked diplomatic maturity. Rashid further described India’s regional actions as hegemonic, rooted in radical ideology that fuels hate and xenophobia.
Sharif Offers Peace, Praises Military Response
In his UNGA speech, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan seeks peace after defending itself during the May conflict. He credited Pakistan’s armed forces for their professionalism and praised Field Marshal Asim Munir for leading a successful military response.
