Pakistan captured the IBSF Snooker World Cup Team Championship in sensational fashion on Sunday, overcoming a 2–1 deficit to defeat Hong Kong China 2 by 3–2 in a thrilling best-of-five final. The Pakistani duo, former world champion Muhammad Asif and Asjad Iqbal, delivered two breathtaking century breaks in the decisive phase to secure a memorable victory.
Early Pressure from Hong Kong
Hong Kong’s pair, Chau Hon Man and Nansen Wan, started strongly and immediately put Pakistan on the back foot. Chau Hon Man dominated the opening frame, overpowering Asjad Iqbal 94–0 with the help of an impressive 85 break.
Pakistan struck back in the second frame when Asif responded with precision and calm, producing a superb 82 break to defeat Nansen Wan 95–17, leveling the match at 1–1.
Hong Kong regained control in the doubles frame, beating Pakistan 84–41, and moved ahead 2–1, leaving Asif and Iqbal just one frame away from defeat.
Two Century Breaks Power Pakistan’s Comeback
The match took a dramatic turn when the contest shifted to the reverse singles. Asif delivered under pressure, compiling a flawless 100 break to crush Chau Hon Man 100–36, bringing Pakistan back into contention at 2–2.
With the championship hinging on the final frame, Asjad Iqbal rose magnificently to the occasion. He constructed a stunning 104 break, shutting out Nansen Wan 104–0, and sealing a remarkable comeback win for Pakistan.
Pakistan clinched the final 3–2, with the frame scores reading:

This victory also adds another milestone to Muhammad Asif’s illustrious career. It marks his seventh world title, which now includes three team world championships, three individual world titles, and one World Masters crown.
