Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday extended warm congratulations to Sohail Afridi on his election as Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). The prime minister assured Afridi of the federal government’s complete support and cooperation for the province’s development and stability.
During a telephonic conversation, Prime Minister Shehbaz expressed his best wishes for Afridi’s new role. He stated that the federal and provincial governments must work together in harmony to ensure Pakistan’s progress. According to him, mutual cooperation and coordination are vital to address national challenges and advance the welfare of the people.
The prime minister reiterated his government’s commitment to strengthening the federation by building constructive relations with all provinces. He emphasized that the federal government is determined to promote equitable development and enhance public services in every region of the country, including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Meanwhile, newly elected Chief Minister Sohail Afridi spoke to the media in Rawalpindi, where he thanked his party leadership and supporters for their trust. Afridi affirmed that he would not disappoint those who placed their confidence in him. He proudly mentioned that he was personally chosen by the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for this important role.
Afridi highlighted that discipline and patience are essential within the party ranks. He urged PTI members to remain united and follow the instructions of their leader. The new chief minister also assured that all political efforts would remain within constitutional and legal frameworks.
“We are a political party and will pursue our objectives through lawful means,” Afridi stated, expressing hope for the early release of the PTI founder through judicial processes.
Observers believe that the collaboration between the federal and KP governments could play a crucial role in improving governance and addressing socio-economic issues in the province. Analysts also note that this coordination may contribute to restoring political stability and public trust.
As both leaders emphasize dialogue, development, and cooperation, the focus now shifts to how effectively the KP government aligns its agenda with federal priorities. The coming months will reveal whether this renewed commitment between Islamabad and Peshawar translates into tangible progress for the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
