ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Energy Division Khurram Dastgir said that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will consult PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif for the appointment of new army chief in London.
PM Shehbaz has reached London to attend the last rites of Queen Elizabeth II, where he will also meet Nawaz Sharif to discuss army chief’s appointment and other important political challenges.

Addressing a press conference in Gujranwala, Dastgir said, said that no matter how many times Khan meets with the army chief, prime minister will make the final decision.
Meanwhile, Minister for Defence Khawaja Asif said that process has yet not been started to extend the army chief’s tenure nor there has been any suggestion in this regard.
His stated this at a press conference in Islamabad on Saturday.
Earlier this week, the PTI chief Imran Khan suggested the extension of the tenure of Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa till the next elections.
Khan suggested that the appointment of new army chief should be deferred until the government is elected, which should then choose the new military chief.
Asif, while talking about the army appointment, said that the policy was as per the Constitution as any sitting prime minister in November would have to decide the nomination of the next army chief.
