The Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) has expressed its reservations regarding the delimitation of constituencies for the upcoming general election in 2024.
The party has announced its intention to challenge the delimitations before the Election Commission of Pakistan, raising concerns that this move might lead to a potential delay in the scheduled general elections. PMLN leader Khawaja Saad Rafique conveyed these concerns during a press conference held in Lahore.
The party’s dissatisfaction with the delimitation process is a significant factor, and Rafique emphasized the importance of addressing these issues before moving forward with the electoral process. Despite these reservations, he assured that the PMLN would actively participate in the elections and field its strongest candidates.
It’s worth noting that there have been reports of at least three petitions seeking the postponement of the general election. The reasons cited include adverse winter weather conditions and concerns about the law and order situation in specific regions of the country.
During the press conference, Rafique dismissed claims that the election environment lacked a level playing field as ‘bizarre.’
This suggests that the PMLN remains firm in its commitment to contesting the election while simultaneously seeking a fair and transparent delimitation process. The unfolding situation raises questions about the potential impact on the electoral timeline and the broader democratic process in Pakistan.
IHC Orders Forensic Order Of Leaked Audio Of Bushra Bibi And Latif Khosa
Meanwhile, Islamabad High Court (IHC) today ordered a forensic examination of a leaked audio between Latif Khosa and Bushra Bibi.
The court heard a petition on Thursday filed by Bushra Bibi, wife of former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan, against the audio leak.
Earlier, a purported audio recording attributed to Bushra Begum has surfaced, claiming discord between her and Imran Khan’s sisters. The recording allegedly captures a phone conversation between Bushra Begum and lawyer Latif Khosa, where she expresses grievances about a confrontation with one of Imran Khan’s sisters.
