ISLAMABAD: Estranged PML-N leader Daniyal Aziz, who was not included in his party’s ticket distribution for the upcoming elections, has announced his intention to run as an independent candidate.
Daniyal Aziz, a former minister and member of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), confirmed his decision during an interview with a private television channel.
He will be contesting from the NA-75 constituency in his hometown Narowal, where the PML-N has chosen another candidate.
Aziz, who has been hospitalized recently, explained that he did not formally apply for the party ticket. He emphasized his commitment to public service and his desire to address the critical issue of inflation, which he calls his “mission.”
His wife will also be contesting the polls as an independent candidate, he added.
Daniyal’s decision follows a period of strained relations with the PML-N, particularly with fellow politician Ahsan Iqbal. He previously criticized Iqbal’s handling of inflation during the recent PDM-led government. The party issued him a notice in response to his remarks.
He expressed disappointment with the party’s decision and attributed it to internal politics. He believes his stance on inflation and his advocacy for the public were not appreciated by the party leadership.
Despite the challenges, Aziz remains determined to run for office and make a difference. He believes the people deserve a candidate who prioritizes their concerns and is committed to addressing their needs.
