ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has summoned a crucial meeting of the coalition parties today (Nov 23) to discuss the appointment of new army chief.
PM Shehbaz will take the allies in confidence on the matter of appointment of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) as the GHQ has recommended six Lt-Generals for the appoint of CJCSC and COAS.
The coalition government’s parties will also discuss the prevailing situation in the country along with other critical national matters.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday former president and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari held a meeting with PM Shehbaz Sharif at the Prime Minister House and discussed issues of mutual concern.
PPP leader expressed “full confidence” in PM Shehbaz and assured that his party will stand by whatever decision the prime minister will take about the appointment of the next army chief.
Earlier, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif said the Prime Minister Office has received the summary containing names of six senior most Lt-Generals for the appointment of the top two positions in the military _ CJCSC and COAS.
Khawaja Asif tweeted, “The Prime Minister Office has received the summary from the Ministry of Defence.”
Defence Minister Khawaja Asif said that the name of the next army chief would be made public within two days.
