ISLAMABAD: The PTI candidates for Senate election including Murad Saeed, Azam Swati, Khurram Zeeshan, and Sanam Javed have lodged appeals in election tribunals contesting the rejection of their nomination papers.
Murad Saeed, Azam Swati, and Khurram Zeeshan, in their appeals filed in the Peshawar election tribunal, argued against the rejection of their nomination papers, citing baseless allegations by the election commission.
Represented by advocate Ali Afridi, they urged for the approval of their nomination papers to enable their participation in the Senate elections.
Similarly, PTI’s Sanam Javed contested the decision of the election commission to reject her nomination papers at Lahore’s election tribunal.
Sanam asserted in her appeal that the rejection was made contrary to the facts, particularly objecting to the alleged non-declaration of a plot in her nomination papers, which she claims she doesn’t possess.
She appealed to the tribunal to reconsider and approve her nomination papers.
Azam Swati, addressing the media after filing his appeal against the rejection of his nomination for the Senate election, criticized the election commission for its consistent rejection of nomination papers.
He emphasized his extensive experience as a member of various house committees, including the judges committee, and expressed concern that if he, as a technocrat, is deemed ineligible, individuals with unrelated backgrounds such as cigarette sellers and property dealers might secure senatorial positions.
Swati highlighted his 18-year tenure as a senator, suggesting that few senators could match his experience. He also lamented being penalized for his allegiance to the PTI founder.
