ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Mohsin stated on Tuesday that the PTI convoy came within a kilometer of D-Chowk but emphasized that authorities would not resort to firing on them.
While addressing the media at D-Chowk, Naqvi remarked that the protest would dissipate within minutes if law enforcement agencies opted to use force. He further claimed that a “secret” leadership within the PTI was orchestrating events, exacerbating the situation.
Paying tribute to the Rangers personnel killed in the previous day’s clashes, Naqvi acknowledged their sacrifice in the line of duty, stating that the nation honors their bravery. He assured that those responsible for the attack would be held accountable and vowed that their sacrifices would not go in vain.
Naqvi expressed solidarity with the families of the fallen Rangers and pledged continued support. He also confirmed that the government had instructed authorities to provide the best possible medical treatment to injured Rangers and police officers.
The minister underscored the government’s restrained response to the crisis, noting that while they could have retaliated with force, they chose a more measured approach. He accused the PTI leadership of publicly supporting dialogue while being hindered by a hidden agenda. Concluding his remarks, he described the ongoing protest at D-Chowk as an act of sedition against the country.
