ISLAMABAD: The lawmakers of the PTI once again avoided in-person appearance before the National Assembly Speaker Raja Parvaiz Ashraf for the verification of their resignations.
The Speaker of National Assembly has decided to invite all the PTI MNAs separately, once again, in his chamber to complete the process of their resignations verification.
In-person verification is required under the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in NA, 2007.
Therefore, NA Speaker wrote another letter to PTI MNAs on Dec 22, requesting them to be available one-by-one for verification of resignations.
A day earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif disclosed that PTI MNAs who have submitted resignations in April 2022, are receiving Rs 500 million worth (50 crore) incentives _ including pay and perks.
Interestingly, the PTI leaders are insisting for the acceptance of their MNAs resignation en bloc.
PTI Vice President Shah Mahmood Qureshi stated in the National Assembly that NA Speaker Raja Pervez Ashraf has ‘ignored’ his letter – sent him earlier this month to accept PTI MNAs resignations.
Earlier, from June 6-10, N Speaker invited lawmakers from the PTI in-person in his chamber, but none of them turned up.
Thus, this systematic tug of war is delaying the process to verify the resignations of PTI MNAs.
