Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has once again received a death threat—this time via WhatsApp—prompting Mumbai police to tighten security and begin a detailed investigation. The threat was reportedly sent to the official WhatsApp number of the Mumbai Traffic Department in Worli on Saturday evening.
According to authorities, the anonymous message threatened to assassinate the actor by planting a bomb in his car and gaining access to his home. A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed at the Worli Police Station under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
“A message with a direct threat to Mr. Khan’s life was received. It mentioned a plan to blow up his car. We are treating this matter very seriously and using digital forensics to trace the sender,” said a senior police official involved in the case.
Pattern of Threats
This isn’t the first time Khan has been targeted. Over the past few years, he has faced multiple death threats, many linked to the 1998 blackbuck poaching case. Members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang—known for their criminal activities—have repeatedly been associated with threats against him, reportedly seeking revenge over the incident.
In March 2023, Khan’s team received a threatening email warning him to “stay alert.” A year earlier, in June 2022, two men were apprehended near his Bandra residence while allegedly scouting the area for a potential attack. Following these incidents, Khan was placed under Y+ category security, providing him with 24/7 armed protection.
The blackbuck case remains a source of tension. Khan was convicted in 2018, and the Bishnoi community, which considers the blackbuck sacred, continues to express anger over the case—fueling repeated threats against the actor.
Bollywood Icon and Philanthropist
Despite the controversies and ongoing threats, Salman Khan remains a major force in Indian cinema. Known for his action-packed roles and box-office hits, Khan has built a loyal fanbase over the decades.
Some of his biggest films include Maine Pyar Kiya (1989), Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! (1994), Wanted (2009), Dabangg (2010), Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015), and Sultan (2016). Beyond films, Khan is also recognized for his charitable initiatives through the Being Human foundation, which supports education and healthcare for the underprivileged.
Investigation Ongoing
Neither Salman Khan nor his team has made an official statement about the latest threat. However, sources close to the actor confirm he is in direct contact with law enforcement and is fully cooperating with the investigation.
The Mumbai Police have assured the public that all appropriate security protocols are in place and that the safety of Salman Khan and his family is being treated as a top priority. Investigators are currently working to identify the sender of the threat and plan to release further details as the probe progresses.
