Karachi: Renowned Pakistani actress Sarwat Gilani has revealed troubling details about her experience working with superstar Humayun Saeed and director Nadeem Baig during the making of the Jawani Phir Nahi Aani (JPNA) film series. The actress accused the team of unprofessional behavior and a lack of respect, saying she was repeatedly sidelined despite her contribution to the franchise’s success.
Role Cut Without Notice
In a candid interview, Gilani shared that her character in the first Jawani Phir Nahi Aani film was cut short without prior notice. When the sequel was announced, she initially refused to join due to her earlier experience. However, director Nadeem Baig persuaded her by promising a complete character arc in the second film.
Unfortunately, according to Gilani, that promise was not kept. “My role was again reduced in Jawani Phir Nahi Aani 2, and I wasn’t treated well during its promotions either,” she revealed.
Excluded from Film Promotions
Sarwat Gilani also alleged that she was excluded from the film’s London promotional tour despite arranging her own travel. “The schedule wasn’t even shared with me. I later discovered that the entire team had already left,” she said, describing the incident as deeply disappointing.
“They Only Remember Me When They Need Work”
Expressing frustration, the actress stated that the filmmakers only reached out when they needed her, ignoring her afterward. “They don’t even remember me after the release,” Gilani remarked, emphasizing that she would no longer tolerate such treatment.
Refuses to Join JPNA 3
Gilani confirmed that she rejected an offer to appear in Jawani Phir Nahi Aani 3. “I cannot let my dignity be compromised anymore. I want equal respect and a rightful place for my character,” she asserted.
Maintains Respect Despite Disappointment
While expressing regret over her experience, Sarwat Gilani clarified that she still holds respect for both Humayun Saeed and Nadeem Baig. “I still meet them with respect, but I will not be part of JPNA 3. I’ve learned my lesson,” she concluded.
